Ward Party

August 27, 2010

Tonight was our ward's Back To School party. It was only a couple days after I had my gall bladder out, but it was really nice to get out of the house! They had BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs, salads, chips and cookies, ice cream sandwhiches and rice krispies for dessert. Everything looked so good, I wish I could have eaten more, but still wasn't all that hungry. After dinner they had some games for the families to do. Parker had a lot of fun running around and playing with the boys his age.

Gall Bladder Surgery

August 24, 2010

Today I had my gall bladder taken out. I don't really remember much but it went very smoothly. It is such a weird feeling because all I remember was being wheeled to the surgery room, waiting for the doctor, sliding onto the operating table from my bed, getting an oxygen mask on and my arms getting strapped to a table on either side of me and them putting a warm blanket on me. Then the next thing I know, I am starting to wake up and I could tell I was some place different and I remember asking if they had done it yet. Turns out they had! I still wasn't quite all there and I was still really sleepy. The surgery was like an hour or so, but it seriously only felt like a few minutes. It was really weird.

They put some of my stones in a container to look at. They were square, which I guess happens but is rare. The nurse said its been a long time since she has seen square ones. I wish I had taken a picture of them, but alas I still wasn't thinking clearly and didn't even think to. I was able to go home a few hours later. All I can eat today though is liquids and jello or pudding. Luckily though I really wasn't hungry so it didn't matter that I hadn't eaten since last night!

Blue Water

We found these cool color tablets that you put in the bath tub and it changes the color of the water. So we got them for Parker's birthday. He loves watching the water change colors!

Birthday Saga Continues!

August 21, 2010

We opted to not do a full on birthday party for Paker this year so we just celebrated together as a family. Since our birthdays were on Wednesday, we decided to do the majority of celebrating on Saturday. We took Parker to Ross Park Aquatic Center in Pocatello this afternoon and he loved it. I don't know why we waited til the end of the summer to take him, it is the best place for him and for all of us right now. It is decently priced and the splash area is only 1 1/2 feet deep! He loved sitting/laying down in the water and splashing. There is also a lazy river that we could take him on and he loved floating around on the tube with us. We left to go home around dinner time so we stopped at Taco Bell for some dinner and when we got home it was time for cake and presents!
Tyler just hangin' out by the pool!
Parker's loot! Most of it was from us, but there was one in there from Grandpa and Nana Wiser.
This was by far his FAVORITE present ever! He was so excited when he saw what it was!!
I decided to make him a race track cake and I think it turned out pretty cute! Parker saw me putting the cars on this morning and wanted them REALLY bad!
He was waiting ALL day to do this!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PARKER

Rexburg Fair

August 20, 2010

We decided to go and see what the little fair here in Rexburg was like. They didn't have a whole lot but it was kinda fun to just walk around a little. There was this little train ride that we let Parker go on...he was in heaven!

Bumbo

August 20, 2010

My mom bought us this Bumbo chair for Tyler and we finally put him in it to see how he would do...
He wasn't really sure what to think!

Happy Birthday

August 18, 2010

Today Parker turned 2 years old and I turned 24. We didn't really do a whole lot this year but we did go to Red Robin for dinner.
They sang to both of us and we each got our own Ice Cream Sundae!

Stephan

August 15, 2010

We spent most of today with Stephan in Portland before Kelsey flew back to Arizona. We had a little picnic by the river and just enjoyed eachother's company. It was very nice outside and very relaxing.

It was so HOT outside and standing in the water felt soooo good!!

Allen's Funeral

August 14, 2010

Today was my brother's funeral in Vancouver, Washington. It was a really hard day, however it didn't really hit me until the viewing session started. I thought maybe I would be okay since we had already seen Allen the day before at the funeral home. However, it was much harder today and I wish Chris could have been there with me. It was just so weird seeing him lay there and knowing that we would never see him again on this earth. There were many tears shed and many thoughtful words said that helped us remember the wonderful life he had. My brother, Carsten, played a beautiful piano piece called Tribute that he dedicated to Allen. Even though it was such a hard and emotional day it is very comforting to know that he is with our Heavenly Father, watching over us each day and that we will be able to see him again one day!

We LOVE and MISS YOU ALLEN!!!!

Meeting the Family...

We all were fortunate enough to stay at my aunt and uncle's house in Hilsboro, OR. It was kinda fun and nice to be all together. I think there were a total of 15 of us staying there!! My Grandma and Aunt cooked some amazing food and we all just got to enjoy each other's company.

Just some of the YuMmInEsS that we got to enjoy!

1-Month Old

August 12, 2010

Today was a big day for Tyler! Not only did he just turn 1 month old, he rode on his FIRST airplane! Tyler and I were fortunate enough to fly to Portland for Allen's funeral. He did so well on the plane, just slept away. He is growing so fast already. He is smiling a lot more and is a lot more alert as well. One thing that is a lot different with Tyler is that he is a lot more fussy. We think he has mild colic and just wants to be held a lot. The doctor recommended trying Gripe Water to see if that would help...and so far it seems to be helping, a little bit at least!

Too Funny...

August 12, 2010

We were at Chris' grandparent's house in Boise and Parker found this little toy tea party set. I looked over at one point and he was sitting next to the little tiny table eating string cheese, I think. It was too funny, but when I tried to get a picture he moved. This was what I got...

In Loving Memory of...

Allen James Hawkes
May 31, 1985 - August 6, 2010

My older brother, Allen, passed away at the young age of 25. He was such a great older brother and always put his family first. He loved riding motorcycles and basically anything that went fast! Sadly, the last time all 6 of us kids were able to be together was for Christmas in 2008. That was a very fun year that I will never forget. It was the year that Allen met his very first nephew and it was the year that we were all together in who knows how long. You will be greatly missed...
WE LOVE YOU ALLEN!!

High Schhol Reunion

August 6, 2010

Chris' 10-year High School Reunion was this weekend so we drove over to Boise for it. Now we didn't go to the actual reunion, but his group of friends that he hung out with had a little reunion of their own the night before. It was pretty fun and I got to meet most of his friends and their families. We just had a nice BBQ and let the kids play around in the backyard. Parker had an absolute BLAST!! His favorite thing to do, I think, was jump with the kids on the trampoline...we may just have to get one ourselves oneday because he couldn't have been happier!

We attempted to get a picture of all the kids on the slide....this was the best we could do!
Everyone and their families (Chris said that only about half of their group was there)
Just the gang and their spouses...
